Our first “serious” adventure took us to France, where we felt like in a dream right from the start. Welcomed into a beautiful house with a vast garden by two amazing people, we were introduced to Beau and Pirate. The introduction was not as expected because Beau didn’t like my winter coat with fur, which he disproved by little bark. Later he understood that I consider it trendy, or maybe he just wanted to say it didn’t suit me? 😀
We enjoyed delicious dinner and wine with the owners and next day, we said good byes, hugged very tightly as we knew each other for ages and from that moment, our adventure began…
Pirate: (The Ice Queen?)
Pirate is a dog rescued from a shelter with a complicated past. She didn’t like feeling confined, as if she were in a closed space, and always had to have the “option to leave.” We had to get used to it because whenever we went somewhere by car, we’d see her running behind the car, which scared us. Little did we know, it was her way of showing independence and freedom. That was important to her.
She acted like – “I don’t need you, I’m an independent dog, give me food and bye….” And that’s how it was for a few days (two). 😀 Because we surrounded her with enormous love, cuddles, touches, and kisses, just like we do with our dogs. At first, she pretended not to care at all, and I’ll tell you, sometimes she looked terrifying. She was like Chuck Norris; her expression was always the same whether she was experiencing happiness or love, and that expression was – terrifying… But we understood that it was her, and in a few days, she became such a sweetheart. She slept in front of our room, wanted to be petted and was always with us. She observed us, was seeking our presence. And at the end she danced to Slovak songs with Beau and Ivana by the pool at sunset. Which, by the way, was the most beautiful experience. We all lay on deck chairs, listened to Edith Piaf, and watched the sun set over the French countryside.
Beau – The Big Buddy
Beau was our big buddy from the first moment. Always wandering around, hugging, kissing, he loved to jump on our bed when we woke up in the morning and let them in. Which is not unusual, except that Beau weighed about 50 kg and was truly massive. He was a Labrador, but a French classic. 😀 In the morning, he always went to the neighbour for a fresh baguette. His problem was that he ate incredibly fast, I think I’ve never seen a dog eat so quickly in my life. We once counted that he ate one portion of kibble in 3 seconds… So, he had a special bowl to slow him down and ensure he wouldn’t eat so quickly. You can find info about it here.
Taking walks with them was truly a challenge – Beau, with his humble weight and Pirate, always trying to escape… :D, never knowing who comes home the firts.
Our pet sit with Beau and Pirate what thank to them one of the richest experiences we’ve had. Thanks to the place, the owners, and these dogs, whom no one expected to be our buddies.
Unveiling Household Gems
Discoveries for Pet Parents in the Kitchen
Kitchen Drawer Organizer
At Bo and Pirate’s home, everything was beautifully organized. The guys had everything sorted out and had organizers for everything 🙂 One of them was like this, where you can organize your cutlery and knives in the drawer.
Fridge Organizer
Also, this super organizer for the fridge. It keeps food fresh, and most importantly, no more chaos with fruits and vegetables in the fridge.
Domestic Magic
Fogless Shower Mirror
This was very surprising for me. That there is something like an anti-fog mirror that we had in our bedroom. It’s really necessary if you want to shower and shave, or like us women, want to put on makeup or tweeze eyebrows, but in the bathroom there is still a lot of steam 🙂
Pet Paradise Hacks
Dog Slow Feeder Bowl
This bowl is a super HACK for dogs who eat quickly. And that’s exactly what Bó did. He ate so fast that we even counted 3 seconds. That’s how long it took him to finish the whole large portion of food. But with this bowl, it took much longer. Which is really important. Because dogs tend to vomit or feel sick when they eat too quickly.
Dog Food Storage
And of course, beautiful organizers for food and treats for our furry friends must not be missing.
